Gout Symptoms
Many people might not be familiar with gout, so it can be a challenge to recognize gout symptoms when they crop up. It can be a very painful and debilitating disease. First, you should understand what gout symptoms are like, and then, you should figure out the right way to treat your gout so that you can go on with your life.
Basically, gout is an accumulation of uric acid in the body, which becomes uric acid crystals. Historically, it has been considered the “rich man’s disease”, because foods like crab, lobster, and dishes made from animal organs are high in purines, and only the nobility and the kings could afford to eat those kinds of foods. However, it can also be caused by the consumption of a lot of grain alcohol, which has led to a variety of gout dubbed “poor man’s gout.” Either way, the gout symptoms are largely the same.
Gout symptoms are caused by a collection of uric acid crystals, which in turn are caused by foods high in purine, the body producing too much uric acid, the body failing to adequately excrete uric acid, or any combination of the three. These crystals reside inside the joint of a part of the body, such as a toe, a knee, an elbow, etc. The base of a man’s big toe is the most likely target for gout, but it can appear in other joints and in women as well.
The gout symptoms include excruciating and sudden pain in the affected joint, which will often grow swollen and red. Gout arthritis is known to last for a few weeks and then subside on its own, even without treatment, but come back to the same joints later. The pain that accompanies gout can be so painful that even the slightest contact with something is unbearable. Following a bout of gout, it might go away for a while and then return, often worse, and more frequently. One other problem gout causes is the increased likelihood of kidney stones.
You’re probably wondering what to do if you have been suffering from gout symptoms. After all, even if it will go away on its own sometimes, it’s still a nuisance and a pain that can dramatically reduce your quality of life. Right now, 3 million Americans suffer from gout. There is a conventional way to treat gout symptoms, and then there’s a natural remedy.
The conventional way is prescription drugs that can have serious side effects. Commonly known as NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs), the goal of these drugs is to alleviate the painful symptoms you might be experiencing from the uric acid crystals. These aren’t going to actually fix the problem, though; while they can reduce the pain, they don’t do anything about what’s causing the pain, which are the uric acid crystals.
Other drugs can give you relief or try to reduce uric acid levels, but are not without a price. Side effects include diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, dizziness, abdominal cramps, headaches, etc. If you are suffering from gout symptoms, you would do well to look into what natural remedies and cures there might be for gout symptoms.

I have attacks of gouty arthritis in my left ankle, right leg and right wrist. I have noticed with each attack the area affected is spreading. Where it use to only effect my right ankle it now effects my whole right leg. On the onset of a attack the effected area feels sore, if I take my colchicine right away I can usually stop it from becoming a full attack. Also I learned from my doctor that I need to take my allopurinol as directed when I am not having a attack because a high uric acid level can damage your kidneys. I also learned that dye contrast can initiate a attack.
